Lusaka Backs Ruto’s Development Agenda, Announces KSh 50M Upgrade for Kopsiro Hospital

By Swaleh

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has thrown his full weight behind President William Ruto’s development agenda, praising the visible projects being rolled out across the country as a testament to the President’s commitment to transforming Kenya.

Speaking on Monday during the Kopsiro Women Empowerment Forum in Mt. Elgon, Lusaka — who attended the event on behalf of the President — said Ruto’s record of achievements in his first term was clear and unmatched, making his re-election in 2027 almost certain.

“In Kenya’s political history, no President has ever served for just one term. With the tangible progress we see today, President Ruto merits the full backing of Kenyans to continue fulfilling his agenda,” Lusaka declared, drawing applause from the crowd.

KSh 50 Million Boost for Healthcare

In a major announcement for the Mt. Elgon community, Lusaka revealed that Kopsiro Hospital is set for a major upgrade to a Level 4 facility, following a KSh 50 million allocation from the Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP).

“This investment will bring critical medical services closer to our people and significantly improve healthcare standards in the region,” Lusaka emphasized. He noted that once complete, the upgrade will ease the burden on families who have long traveled far distances to seek specialized treatment.

Healthcare workers at the event welcomed the news, saying the upgrade would enhance service delivery, reduce patient referrals, and strengthen the hospital’s capacity to handle emergencies.

Empowering Women for Economic Growth

Beyond healthcare, Lusaka hailed the government’s continuous investment in women empowerment initiatives, which he said were crucial in transforming communities and strengthening household economies.

“Women remain the backbone of community development. By wisely investing these resources, they can uplift their families and drive economic transformation,” the Governor said.

He urged women beneficiaries of empowerment funds to engage in productive ventures such as agribusiness, small-scale industries, and education, emphasizing that their success directly impacts the wellbeing of their families and the wider society.

Rallying Behind the President

The Governor concluded by calling on Bungoma residents and Kenyans at large to unite behind President Ruto, stressing that continuity in leadership was vital to fully realize the fruits of the ongoing development programs.

“President Ruto has laid a strong foundation. It is now our duty to support him to complete the journey of transforming Kenya,” Lusaka noted.

The Kopsiro Women Empowerment Forum brought together community leaders, women groups, and government officials in a colorful event marked by song, dance, and exhibitions showcasing women-led projects in the region.
