MALAVA, Kenya (IP)
National Assembly Speaker Dr Moses Wetang’ula has called on leaders from Western Kenya to embrace unity and ensure the region is not perceived as weak or divided.
Speaking during the funeral service of Mwalimu Dr. Enock Andanje at Manda Primary School grounds in Malava Sub-County, Wetang’ula said cohesion and mutual respect among leaders would strengthen the community’s political and social standing.
“ I call upon Western Kenya leaders to unite, have respect for each other and ensure the region is not perceived as weak as different regions bring their communities together,” Wetang’ula said.
Andanje, a respected educator and former UDA aspirant for the Malava parliamentary seat, was eulogized as a mentor, servant leader and man of integrity.
He previously served as Principal of Bungoma High School where he helped shape the lives of countless young people.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi paid a moving tribute, describing Andanje as “a remarkable son of Western Kenya” whose legacy would continue to inspire generations.
“Today in Malava, we came together as a community, family, friends and fellow citizens, to celebrate the life and bid farewell to a remarkable son of Western Kenya, Mwalimu Enock Andanje. His sudden passing reminds us of life’s fragility, yet his legacy speaks with enduring strength,” Mudavadi said.
“We remember him not merely as a candidate, but as a mentor of generations, a man of integrity and a voice of reason whose heart always beat for his community.
His journey was defined by service, humility and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others.”
Other leaders present included Co-operatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula and several county and national leaders.
Andanje, mourners noted, “ran his race with honour” and left behind a legacy of love, service and commitment to his community.
