The Umukuuka of the Bamasaaba, Jude Mike Mudoma, recently concluded a successful visit to South Africa, where he met members of the Bamasaaba diaspora.

The king engaged in strategic meetings aimed at strengthening the young but vibrant Bamasaaba cultural institution.

During his visit, the Umukuuka held fruitful discussions with the University of the Western Cape (UWC).

These meetings focused on fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building initiatives.

Reflecting on his visit, Umukuuka Mudoma stated,

“These engagements have reaffirmed my conviction that together, we can achieve great things. The hospitality and support I have received from our people here have been invaluable, and I believe the outcomes of this trip will create lasting impacts on our cultural institution and our people.”

This visit to South Africa is one of several diaspora outreach initiatives by the Umukuuka.

He has previously visited Bamasaaba communities in countries such as Kenya, Uganda,UK and the United States, promoting unity and reinforcing the shared cultural identity among the Bamasaaba people across borders.

The Umukuuka’s visits underscore the importance of cultural connections in a rapidly globalizing world.

For the Bamasaaba kingdom, which is relatively young compared to other African monarchies, these engagements are crucial in cementing its role as a unifying force among its people.

Kingdoms and cultural institutions have increasingly become focal points for unity and identity in Africa.

They provide a rallying point for preserving traditions, fostering socio-economic development, and addressing shared challenges.

The Bamasaaba cultural institution, under the leadership of Umukuuka Mudoma, continues to build bridges and inspire collective efforts for growth and prosperity.

As Umukuuka Mudoma returned home, he urged his people to harness their collective strengths and resources.
