“DCI’s Latest Appeal: Cash Reward for Information on Jumaisi’s Escapade”

“Explosive New Details on Jumaisi’s Bold Escape: DCI Offers Cash Reward as Investigation Unfolds”

In a shocking turn of events, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has escalated its efforts to recapture Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a suspected serial killer who recently escaped from Gigiri Police Station. The escape, which saw Jumaisi and 12 other detainees break free earlier this week, has ignited a storm of outrage and suspicion, with authorities now probing what appears to be a possible inside job.

The jailbreak, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, has called into question the integrity of the police officers on duty. Contrary to initial assumptions, Jumaisi and his co-escapees did not execute a covert operation but simply walked out through the station’s main entrance, right under the noses of two officers on night shift. Eyewitnesses suggest these officers may have been involved in facilitating the escape.

In response, the DCI has announced a substantial cash reward for any information leading to Jumaisi’s capture. “A significant cash reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest,” stated the DCI in a notice published in the Daily Nation on August 22. The agency is now calling on the public to assist in this high-stakes manhunt for the dangerous fugitive.

Investigations are intensifying, with detectives examining the mobile phone records and financial transactions of the officers who were on duty that night. Forensic analysis is expected to reveal crucial details about their potential involvement.

A detainee who witnessed the escape described how officers seemed unusually lenient, allowing him to keep money—an anomaly in Kenyan police cells. This detainee also reported that a roll call was conducted around midnight, after which the cell doors were left unlocked, giving Jumaisi and the others a clear path to freedom.

Adding to the intrigue, the witness claimed to have seen one of the Eritrean detainees handing money to officers before they went to the canteen. Reports also indicated that one officer was allegedly intoxicated, which could have contributed to the lapse in security.

The escape was discovered when a woman delivering breakfast found the cells nearly empty. This triggered an immediate response from senior police officials.

The DCI’s manhunt now includes not only Jumaisi but also the 12 Eritrean nationals who escaped with him. The Cyber Crime Unit is analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas to piece together the escape’s details. Five implicated officers, including a corporal and several constables, have been detained as investigations continue.

Acting Inspector-General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has described the incident as an evident case of collusion. “I have interdicted eight officers who were on duty that night,” Masengeli confirmed, highlighting preliminary findings of possible complicity by the officers.

The identities and photos of the Eritrean escapees have been released as the DCI ramps up its search. This incident has brought scrutiny to the security measures at Gigiri Police Station, a high-security facility near the U.S. Embassy.

In the wake of the escape, the atmosphere within the police force is tense. Officers were stunned to learn of the escape and subsequent cover-up attempts by their colleagues. The fallout is expected to be significant as the DCI and other agencies work to both recapture the fugitives and address internal corruption.
