The final journey for Johana Ng’eno has been set for Friday, March 6, 2026, after consultations between family members and government officials, a parliamentary committee announced.

The Parliamentary Funeral Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Julius Melly, said the late Emurua Dikirr lawmaker and three others will be laid to rest the same day.

“Upon consultation with the families of the late Hon. Ng’eno and four others, it is agreed that the late Hon. Johana Ng’eno and three others will be laid to rest on Friday, March 6, 2026, while the other body will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 7, 2026,” Melly said.

Those to be buried alongside Ng’eno are Carlos Keter, Amos Rotich and Wycliffe Rono. Nicholas Kosgei will be buried a day later on Saturday, March 7.

The family of Captain George Were, who was also on board, will announce his burial date after his children arrive from abroad.

The committee said a joint church service for all the victims will be held in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 4, at the Africa Gospel Church in Karen.

The following day, Thursday, March 5, the five victims will be airlifted to Emurua Dikirr, where another joint requiem mass will be conducted at a local school.

After the service, the remains of the four victims will be taken to their respective homes for final rites in accordance with their traditions.

Melly said Parliament, the County Government of Narok and the Office of the President will jointly handle the funeral arrangements.

“Parliament together with the County Government of Narok and the Office of the President will take charge of funeral expenses to alleviate the burden on the bereaved families and grant them time to mourn their loved ones,” he said.

Members of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Planning Committee include Rindikiri Mugambi (vice chairperson), Sen. David Wafula Wakoli, Wakili Hillary Sigei, Julius Sunkuli, Oscar Sudi, Brighton Yegon, Mark Nyamita, Gathoni Wamuchomba, Kitilai Ole Ntutu, Rebecca Tonkei, Kakai Bissau, Victor Koech, Joseph Cherorot and Sen. Oketch Eddy Gicheru.
