Kenya is flying the national flag high at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan where the team currently sits second on the global medal standings as the event enters Day 5.
According to the official rankings on the World Athletics website, Team Kenya has so far secured four gold medals, one silver, and two bronze, underscoring the country’s continued dominance in middle- and long-distance running.
The latest triumph came on Wednesday when Faith Cherotich stormed to victory in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking a championship record of 8:51.69 to claim gold.
Kenya’s medal tally also includes memorable performances from record world champion Faith Kipyegon who led compatriots Nelly Chepchirchir and Dorcas Ewoi to a clean sweep in the women’s 1500m.
Meanwhile, the United States tops the medal table with seven gold medals, one silver, and two bronze, maintaining its long-standing reputation as a global track and field powerhouse.
