Ford Kenya’s Lion Pride Turns Into a Political Circus in Bungoma

BUNGOMA, Kenya

If you thought Ford Kenya was finally ready to act like a serious political party, the Bungoma central branch just proved you wrong.

The Lion Party Kabuchai sub county officials have once again descended into their favorite hobby: fighting itself loudly, publicly and with just enough drama to make soap operas jealous.

The latest episode? Replacing the late Kabuchai Constituency chairman, James Barasa Mukhongo.

The man barely finished his journey six feet under and the party had already dusted off the ballot boxes to decide who gets his chair.

In Ford Kenya, grief comes second; wrangles are always first.

And who’s the star of the show this time? Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga once hailed as Wetang’ula’s blue-eyed boy, now accused of political adultery for hanging out with arch-nemesis Governor George Natembeya.

In Bungoma politics that’s like showing up to a wedding in the rival clan’s colors — unforgivable.

Mukuyuni MCA Meshach Wekesa Museveni set the tone:

“Our MP is eating with the enemy. He has no moral authority to represent us.”
Translation: Majimbo can’t be trusted because his social calendar includes Natembeya.

Newly crowned constituency chairman Polycarp Wandabusi didn’t stop there. He promised to drag Kabuchai back into the Wetang’ula stable like a shepherd herding stubborn goats.

“No more experiments,” Wandabusi thundered, as if Ford Kenya had been running a science lab instead of a political party.

Other “loyal lions” — Edwin Opwora as vice chairman and Joel Wekesa as youth leader — completed what looked like a ready-made “Majimbo eviction squad.”

Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga presided over the elections, playing the role of referee in a game where one team had already been disqualified.

Majimbo of course, rejected the entire exercise as a sham, disrespectful and designed to humiliate him.

He has demanded a fresh election from party secretary general John Chikati preferably one where he gets to win or at least doesn’t leave looking like the political equivalent of a best man without an invite.

So here we are again: Ford Kenya, the self-proclaimed “Lion of Western Kenya,” reduced to a noisy pride fighting over scraps.

Instead of roaring at opponents, the lion keeps scratching itself and Bungoma voters are left wondering whether the jungle’s king has accidentally turned into a circus clown.

Ends.
