Residents of Kimaeti Market on the Bungoma-Kanduyi Highway have taken to the streets in protest after a night watchman, who also worked as a businessman, was brutally killed by unknown assailants just 50 meters from the Kimaeti Police Post. The incident, which occurred during the night, has sparked outrage among locals who are demanding immediate action and justice.
Efforts by the Kimaeti Sub County Commander, OCPD, and the area M.C.A to calm the situation have so far been unsuccessful. Residents are calling for the immediate transfer of all police officers stationed at Myanga and Kimaeti as a condition to cease the demonstrations. They believe that the current officers have failed to provide adequate security and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The demand for officer transfers has been prioritized by the protesters, who insist on a change in personnel to restore their trust in law enforcement. The situation remains tense as authorities work to address the grievances and restore order in the area.
The community continues to mourn the loss of the night watchman and businessman, highlighting the need for improved security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
